Practical Tips for Your Trip

Hungary has a well-developed infrastructure for outdoor activities. Most national parks and hiking areas are accessible by public transport from Budapest, and entrance fees are generally affordable compared to Western European destinations.

The best seasons for outdoor adventures are spring (April to June) and autumn (September to October), when temperatures are mild and trails are less crowded. Summer is ideal for water sports at Lake Balaton, while winter offers unique opportunities for cave exploration when surface temperatures drop.

National Blue Trail

Hungary's iconic long-distance hiking route stretches over 1,168 km from Irottko in the west to Hollohaza in the east, crossing all major mountain ranges and national parks along the way.
